I was alone in my thoughts
Then you came to me
A hushed essence followed you
Looking up caught us in an uneasy moment
True eyes desire the thread of recognition
We both possess this
Before love unearths it
Before words are spoken
An arm around your waist
A seamless fitting together
Forgoes the need for language
As angst secretly adds to love
A novel encounter
Desire feeds one or the other
If only love could overcome doubts
As two souls
Move silently into separate spaces
I found this poem was written in a card, dated 9/21/2017. It was not addressed to anyone and I am not sure to whom it was composed. On 12/11/2019 I altered it more than slightly. The poem above is the revised version and below is the original found in the card.
9/21/2017
I was alone in my thoughts
Then you came to me
A hushed essence followed you
Looking up caught us
in an uneasy moment
True eyes desire a
thread of recognition
That we each possess
Love unearths it
Before words are spoken
A seamless arm around your waist
A fitting together forgoes
a proper language
And adds angst and love
to a novel encounter
Love feeds on one or the other
Until love overcomes doubts
And two souls can sit calmly
in the space of silence
